Johanna has solid experience from her legal career at two of Sweden’s leading law firms, where she was also a partner at one of them. She is specialized in business agreements and procurement within the energy industry and has worked internationally with infrastructure developments, power plant projects, and municipal projects. This career path eventually lead Johanna to Baltic Cable in 2024, as Senior Legal Counsel.
We asked Johanna a few questions so you can get to know her better:
What do you do in your role as Senior Legal Counsel?
“The day-to-day work varies a lot, since I collaborate with almost all the teams at Baltic Cable. My expertise lies in agreements and procurement processes for our daily operations, where I draft contracts and negotiate with our suppliers. I especially support the technical team with legal advice in everything from supply contracts and spare part orders to long-term maintenance or support agreements for our facilities. All of this is to ensure that Baltic Cable stays operational for years to come.”
What inspired you to pursue a career in the energy industry?
“I actually began studying to be an engineer before switching to law. So, I have always had a technical interest and soon found myself involved in projects within the energy sector during my years as a business law advisor. Now it has been ten years, and I still enjoy working in a more technical environment – even if it’s not as an engineer!”
What do you enjoy most about your work at Baltic Cable?
“The fact that we are an important player in a huge context: the interconnected European electricity market. This creates so many challenging questions and interesting tasks. Also, having worked as a consultant for several years, I now thoroughly enjoy putting all my effort into one company and business, as well as working with my incredibly skilled colleagues from our different teams, of course.”
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
“Be yourself, do the things you enjoy and find interesting. That is when you become skilled at it and inevitably will enjoy what you do even more.”
What do you like to do outside of work?
“Right now, most of my spare time is dedicated to the construction of our new house! As most people know, building a house is both time- and energy-consuming, but we know the results will be worth all the effort. We hope to move in, my little family – my husband, two kids, and our Standard poodle and cats – come April 2026.”
