Introducing Kajsa Hedberg – the new CEO of Baltic Cable

Kajsa Hedberg has an extensive background in the Swedish energy sector, specifically within strategy, M&A and change management. From working in northern Sweden at Skellefteå Kraft, to southern Sweden at C4 Energi, energy companies are a part of her track record. Now, she joins Baltic Cable as the new CEO, looking forward to leading the company in a new direction – as an investor in European interconnectors.

Kajsa Hedberg started her career as a strategic advisor and have among other consultancies worked for McKinsey&Co. Her first job within the energy sector was in 1998 as a management consultant at Sydkraft, working with internal and external communication. Since then, she has worked at Skellefteå Kraft with business development, M&A and corporate strategy, been CEO of SRV Återvinning, working with sustainability and change management, and CEO for E.ON BIOFOR focusing on biogas and divestment of the business to St1. Most recently, she worked as CEO at C4 Energi, an energy company in southern Sweden, with the aim to locally facilitate the green transition.

We asked Kajsa a few questions for you to get to know her better:

What interest you in Baltic Cable?
“To work at a company that is active on European level, and within the energy sector, has long been of interest to me. I have previously worked on national level in Sweden and in companies on a global level. When the offer came along, and it also included development of an M&A and investment business, I could not resist!”

What do you bring with you from your previous experiences?
“Having worked with M&A strategies and change management before will come in handy as Baltic Cable is entering this new era. I prioritize clear and inclusive leadership. As CEO, my tasks will include setting the stage, the vision, the strategy, bring the team together, define overarching goals, and ensure that we work towards them in our daily operations. It is my job to create the best possible conditions for everyone else to succeed, so we can deliver value to our stakeholders.”

What other engagement have you had over the years?
“I was for example a board member in Norrlandsfonden for more than nine years, a financial foundation with the mission to promote the development of companies in northern Sweden. One of my most recent engagements has been as a member of the Board of Directors at Energiföretagen Sverige, an industry association for companies that supply, distribute, sell, and store energy.”

What are you looking forward to the most?
“Supporting the green transition and electrification in Europe is one of the most driving forces in my work. I want to contribute to a more sustainable society, now and for future generations. An interconnected Europe is key to create a more secure and sustainable energy system in order to increase the competitiveness of our continent. As an investor in interconnectors, Baltic Cable can make a difference. I feel excited and inspired to lead a company with such an important mission and to contribute to the ongoing work with investment activities. I look forward to getting to know my colleagues and other stakeholders of Baltic Cable.”
